Highland Park robotics has a record number of students involved on the team. The number of teams have doubled since last year, 2 to 4.
Origin
The robotics team was created in the late 1990s. The founding teacher, Bruce Chardoneau, left HP in 2002. Mr. Barrows, a physics teacher, took over as team sponsor for about 4 years. From 2007 to 2010 the robotics team went into hibernation mode. Mr. Thomas has been the team sponsor since 2011.
Growing teams
This year’s team has a record number of participants, 29 people. In the past the largest team was composed of 22 students. Mr. Thomas took over in 2011 with only 4 members.
